Periocular (haired) skin: severe, chronic, focal epidermal and follicular ortokeratosis with alopecia and crusting and the presence of numerous intralesional fungal elements (endothrix and ectothrix arthrospores and hyphae as well). Etiology: Trichophyton sp. (Trichophyton verrucosum is the most common). Name of the disease. Dermatophytosis (ringworm). Differential diagnosis: Hereditary Zn deficiendy (Adema disease, lethal trait A 46).
